Several acknowledged experts have contributed to the development of this model, in particular the team from the Shuttleworth Collection who are responsible for the maintenance of an airworthy Spitfire. Corgi is also pleased to draw upon the experience of the renowned World War Two historian, Dilip Sarkar (MBE FRHistS), who’s assistance has been invaluable in terms of historic accuracy of the plane flown by Brian Lane. Clive Denney of Vintage Fabrics, who recovers and paints Spitfire’s for a living has also added extensive expertise to this exquisite replica.
This model comes with a specially commissioned book by Dilip Sarkar, which narrates the life of Squadron Leader Brian Lane and tells the remarkable story of his involvement with the most famous aircraft ever produced. The book shows never before seen images of Brian Lane, his ground crew and fellow pilots. In addition the book has extracts from Brian Lane’s log book which gives a fascinating insight into the life of a fighter pilot. Also included are testimonies from veterans who served with one of the great fighter pilots of the Battle of Britain.
